In Loving Memory

As a father, brother, son, uncle, and friend, Chris was unknowingly the glue that held our family together. His laugh was contagious and his smile could light up a room; everyone loved just being around him. He was the first person to call when you needed help, always willing to jump into any situation at any moment. His two sons idolized him, as did his nieces and nephews. He was genuine, down to earth, always ready for a joke, always ready to listen. Chris loved being with his family more than anything. Sunday dinners were a favorite in the Danese household, as were our annual family vacations. Our vacation stories that we’ve collected over the years are priceless, all revolving around Chris; whether it was a prank he was pulling, or just a situation he fell into, Chris was the center of every vacation memory. We were the family that everyone wanted to be a part of, and Chris was at the heart of it. He loved Philly sports, and was in softball leagues with his friends from the time he was little. Today, his friends have created a softball league in honor of him: Danese Softball.
Chris was ambitious; he always wanted more for himself, wanted to keep trying to do better for his children. He wanted to be the best father he could be, and his sons truly admired him.
A piece of all of us went with Chris when he passed. On October 2, 2010, heroin took Chris's life, and the rest of ours changed forever. But watching his struggle with addiction, wanting so badly to fight it, was nothing less than heartbreaking. Chris is with us every day -- still there when we need something, still laughing at the Sunday dinner table -- but without the weight of addiction that he carried while here on earth.
We love you so much Chris and miss you everyday!
