In Loving Memory
DARLENE MOTESBELLE GLADE, FLORIDA Parents: Siblings: |
DARLENE WAS ONE OF THE KINDEST, MOST LOVING, SINCERE PEOPLE I KNOW. WE HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER SINCE WE WERE TODDLERS, WENT TO GRADE SCHOOL TOGETHER, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCOOL-GRADUATING TOGETHER. ALL THROUGH SCHOOL, WE REMAINED CLOSE FRIENDS-ALWAYS AT EACH OTHERS HOMES, LAUGHING BEING GIRLS. WE REMAINED CLOSE THROUGHOUT OUR ADULT LIVES. DARLENE FOUGHT MANY BATTLES WITH ADDICTION-SHE TRIED SO HARD TO OVERCOME THEM AND WE HAD MANY CONVERSATIONS ABOUT IT. WHEN I LOST MY SON JOSHUA HUSTON TO A DRUG OVERDOSE IN 2007-SHE WOULD CALL ME, CRY WITH ME AND LET ME VENT, ALWAYS THERE FOR ME WITH A KIND WORD, AN UNDERSTANDING EAR AND LOVE. SHE VERY WELL KNEW THE DANGERS AND WAS SCARED. LAST OCTOBER, SHE HAD MAJOR BACK SURGERY AND THE PILLS CAME BACK INTO HER LIFE AFTER WE THOUGHT SHE HAD HER ADDICTION LICKED. THEY CAME BACK WITH A VENGEANCE. HER CALLS TO BE BECAME DESPERATE, FOLLOWED BY "I'M OK NOW- I WAS JUST GOING THRU A ROUGH PATCH". I COULD TELL BY TALKING TO HER THAT HER BATTLE WITH DRUGS WAS NOT GOING WELL. WE CONTINUED TO TALK TO EACH OTHER ABOUT OUR LIVES, DRUGS,THE PROBLEMS SHE HAD WITH THEM AND SHE ALWAYS TALKED WITH ME ABOUT MY SON, OUR LIFE TOGETHER AS FRIENDS AND CALLS WERE ALWAYS ALWAYS ENDED WITH AN I LOVE YOU. IN JANUARY I LOST MY SISTER AND SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO CALL ME AND CRY WITH ME. ON MARCH 4, I GOT A CALL-WHEN HER NAME CAME OUT OF THE PERSON ON THE PHONES MOUTH-I KNEW. DARLENE WAS GONE. I HATE DRUGS. I AM ANGRY THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN ANOTHER PERSON THAT I LOVE FROM ME. DARLENE WAS TRULY A KIND, LOVING FRIEND, DAUGHTER, WIFE, SISTER. HER HEART WAS SO BIG AND SHE ALWAYS ALWAYS HAD TIME FOR YOU-NO MATTER WHAT SHE WAS GOING THROUGH-HER PAIN, HER SADNESS. SHE WAS MY FRIEND AND IT HURTS TO KNOW THAT I WILL NEVER HEAR HER VOICE AGAIN, HEAR HER BEAUTIFUL LAUGH, TALK TO HER ON THE PHONE, SEE HER BEAUTIFUL SMILE. I LOVED HER AND I WILL MISS HER FOREVER.
